From sunlight falling on a leaf to candlelight powered by plant wax, the circle of energy completes itself. Cast into tall columns the colour of Carrara marble, round which twine in low relief wildflowers and garden ornamentals, a new form of statuary is realized – one that beautifully marries both form and function. Each candle is handmade using plant-based wax and cotton wicks. As these candles are conceived as large scale statement pieces to light a feast or celebration, they are unscented so as not to compete with the taste buds. Three wick candles are particularly suited for use as unity candles at wedding ceremonies. These can be custom made - choose your favourite flowers or ones whose symbolism resonates with you for an utterly unique element at your wedding.
For Corrina
A candle conceived for and inspired by the work of Dublin artist Corrina Earlie. To Have and to Hold. Corrina’s floral art is the most exquisite plant portraiture, but as we know, all art is self-portraiture. It tells of our fascinations and obsessions. Featuring Delphinium, Tulip, Lisianthus and Clematis. Soy wax and cotton wick. Height 30cm Diameter 13cm Weight 3.9 Kg RRP €140
Achilles
Named for the legendary Greek war monger Achilles, Achillea millefolium, was used as a natural remedy to heal wounds. Achille’s mother dipped all but his heel in the Achillea-rich waters of the river Styx to immortalize him, but he remained true to the original meaning of his name - the bringer of grief to his people. Strike a match, light a flame, choose healing, not strife. Soy wax and cotton wick. Height 30cm Diameter 13cm Weight 3 kg RRP €140
Cathy and Heathcliff
Named for the ill-fated lovers of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights, the Heathcliff and Cathy candle tells of the stark beauty of the wild uplands that exist between civilization and wilderness. Gorse, dark of thorn and bright of flower, represents their eternal embrace, piercing, beguiling, forever one. Soy wax and cotton wick. Height 32cm Diameter 15cm Weight 5.4 kg RRP €180
Cill Mhantáin
My studio and garden are in county Wicklow, known as the garden county of Ireland. Cill Mhantáin is the Irish for Wicklow. It is a place I love - with its long silver beaches, mystical forests filled with ancient curling fern crosiers and starkly beautiful mountains. This is my ode to a special place that feels like a lost world.
RRP €140
Leadáin Úcaire
A substantial three wick rectangular candle that celebrates one of my favourite plants, teasel. I love it’s distinctive egg-shaped heads ringed with purple flowers and framed by elegantly curved spiked bracts. This candle also features some other favourite wildflowers such as Rosebay Willow herb, nettle and Queen Anne’s lace. A cornucopia of natural beauty.
